This is a brilliant summary of the topic. I've certainly experienced them all. I used Marlene Winell's work when I first deconstucted, and found it useful. I've not read all the others but I'll add them to my list. Thanks again for such a thoughtful and challenging read.
Thank you for taking the time to read it. I found Winell's work to be helpful and grounding - I hope these other sources are supportive to you as well!
I have been in a high control situation most of my life, in religious matters and in making life choices; and you are 99% on point. I have had to fight for the survival of me, the authentic self. It has not been easy and it has taken a toll on my life. My defenses are so high, I screen most of my interactions, social and official, through the control radar. What can I do to stop being too defensive?
Hey - I am so glad you are taking strides for your wellbeing. There are so resources here and I am personally an advocate for finding a trauma-informed mental health provider who can help navigate the impacts of harm. Naming the reality you want to see in yourself is part of the process!

Maybe the book "Leaving the fold" by Winnel will help.
